Mobile racing gets a bad reputation, mostly because the store is full of forgettable clones with terrible touch controls. But there are gems, and after a few weeks of testing we narrowed it down to a handful that hold up.

Our number one criterion was control feel. A racer lives or dies on how the car responds, and no amount of shiny graphics saves a game that fights you in every corner. We tested each with both tilt and button steering.

Offline support mattered too. The best moments for a quick race are on trains and planes, exactly where signal disappears. Games that demanded a constant connection got dropped fast.

Neon Drift Circuit topped our list for its drift-focused handling, but honorable mentions went to a couple of career-mode racers that reward slow upgrades. Pick based on whether you want arcade thrills or a longer grind.

If you take one thing away: try the button controls before the tilt ones. Most people assume tilt is the fun option, then get carsick and blame the game.
